All AdventuresA sacred Himalayan lake, ancient oak forests, and a high pass in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi
The Adventure
Dodital is one of Uttarakhand's most sacred freshwater lakes, said to be the birthplace of Lord Ganesha. The trek weaves through magnificent forests of oak, rhododendron, and walnut before ascending to the lake, then continuing over the dramatic Darwa Pass at 4,150m with sweeping views of the Bandarpunch and Black Peak massifs.
Highlights
Dodital's clear waters, framed by dense forest and snow peaks, are utterly serene. The Darwa Pass crossing adds real mountain drama — the views of Bandarpunch from the pass are among the finest in the Uttarkashi region.
Suitability
Safety & Prep
Darwa Pass can hold snow until late May. Dodital gets crowded during pilgrim season — camp early to secure a good spot. Trail well-marked but forest sections can be confusing.
