Sar Pass at 4,206m is one of the most popular first Himalayan pass treks in India — a 5-day journey from Kasol through the Parvati Valley to a dramatic snow pass with sweeping views of the Kullu peaks. The descent on the far side is on snow — a glissade that has become part of the trek's famous identity.

The Sar Pass snow descent — sliding down a steep snowfield on your back or in a sitting glissade — is one of the most purely joyful moments in Himalayan trekking. The pass itself delivers excellent Kullu mountain panoramas.

This is for you if…

  • First-time or early-stage mountain trekkers
  • Comfortable with one high snow-pass crossing
  • May–June window essential for snow conditions
  • Kasol-based travellers wanting proper mountain time

Skip this if…

  • Expecting remote wilderness (trail is popular and managed)
  • Post-June when snow has melted reduces the iconic descent',

Sar Pass is managed by YHAI — most trekkers go with their organised groups. Snow conditions vary year to year — call ahead for May snowpack. High pass crossing requires warm layers even in June.
